• About Me •
I was born in Montague, Massachusetts, and grew up in Amherst and the surrounding towns. My interest in computer work and the sciences led me to Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, where I graduated with a degree in Computer Engineering. I spent the next eight years working as a software engineer, working on software for scientific instruments and music theory teaching tools. In 2000, I began sporadically taking weekly ceramics classes at a studio in Leverett, MA for about four years. Wanting to learn more about glazes and the firing process, I moved to Worcester in 2004 to join the Professional Craft Studies program at the Worcester Center for Crafts.
The two years I spent there taught me a great deal about both the technical and artistic sides of ceramics. Having full-time access to the studio was an amazing experience, allowing me to improve my skills and also begin to develop my own artistic direction.
Since graduating with a certificate in ceramics, I have been working part-time as a studio assistant at the studio in Leverett where I originally started taking classes. I continue doing occasional software development work, and I am currently directing a handbell choir at Wesley United Methodist Church in Hadley, MA.
