• Mugs •

Each mug is thrown by hand on the potter's wheel. Tim has been making mugs with simple clean designs for years, using them as a base to explore the amazing way glazes can combine and mix to create beautiful results.

His newest design is the groove mugs. They are slightly tapered mugs with an indentation on one side, positioned for the fingertips. They have become one of his most popular items because of their unique, comfortable feel. An indentation is made up the side of the mug with one finger, while the mug is still attached to the wheel. This can significantly warp the rim, so the rim is put back into round afterward as much as possible using the wheel.

When the mug has dried somewhat, the handles are attached. Tim prefers pulling the handles directly from the mugs. A tapered piece of clay is attached near the lip of the mug. Depending on its position relative to the indentation, the mug will be left- or right-handed. The clay is then pulled and stretched into a smooth, tapered handle, and attached at the bottom of the mug. Once the base of the mug is cleaned up and signed, and any obvious imperfections smoothed out, the mug is ready for firing.

They are available in left-handed and right-handed versions and in all glaze colors. All his mugs are dishwasher and microwave safe.
